Root Canal TREATMENT

What is a root canal?

A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.

At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.

If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend non-surgical treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Success for this type of treatment occurs in about 90% of cases. If your tooth is not amenable to endodontic treatment or the chance of success is unfavorable, you will be informed at the time of consultation or when a complication becomes evident during or after treatment. We use local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort. In addition, we will provide nitrous oxide analgesia, if indicated. You will be able to drive home after your treatment, and you probably will be comfortable returning to your normal routine.

What happens after treatment?

When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of completion at our office. Your restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth. It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.

How much will it cost?

The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.

I came to Dr. Kubelka for root canal treatment. I have tmj issues and was very worried about having my mouth open for that long. Afraid that it would leave me very sore. Dr. Kubelka addressed all my concerns with me and made me very comfortable with the plan of action. I went with oral sedation and between that and using a bite block I felt very little discomfort the day following the procedure( nothing that ibuprofen can't handle). I definitely recommend them. If you are someone like me who is nervous for the dentist because of past bad experience, tmj issues, or any other issues don't think twice about calling them. They will definitely help you and make sure you are comfortable throughout the whole process!

I called after seeing my dentist and was given an appointment the very next morning for a root canal . Arriving on that cold winter morning I had some anxiety about some things . I had forgotten the info to bring from my dentist , how much pain was I to endure and , some claustrophobia issues. The staff was so positive in dealing with these issues and so disarming with friendliness I soon felt in very good hands at much at ease. They had warm blankets available if I wanted them, and the chair had a vibrating massage for the back. Discovering nitrous oxide or laughing gas available I chose to have it administered but with the stuff he used to get rid of the pain it was not really needed. The only pain I felt was that brief moment that was required to locate the problem tooth . My root canal took a little longer than usual but I had some deep roots, and he was very thorough in cleaning them out . I never felt any discomfort and the staff teamwork was exceptional . They kept up a lively discussing at times I wished I could have joined in. Upon finishing I I was given a really nice coffee mug that me and my wife compete for , written instructions on what to do , a script , and I was still able to go straight to work from there ! I had no fat lip or loss of feeling that usually takes several hours to deal with. Dr Kubelka called me the next day for a follow up inquiry as to how things were going and if he was needed I was to call on his cell number . I will always choose him in the future and highly recommend him !

This is the first time that I have ever rated a dentist (endodontist) so highly. Most people do not like to go to a dentist and get work done on their teeth. I can honestly say that this was a pleasant experience. All dentists should have to learn his methods. Thorough, sensitive, effective, courteous and caring. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kubelka to anyone.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but WOW, what a great root canal! Dr. Kubelka and his team are absolutely fantastic!!!! This was my first root canal and I was a little apprehensive from past dental experiences. However, he explained everything thoroughly and made me feel very comfortable throughout the procedure. Great communication from the phone to the actual appointment. I would definitely recommend his services!

Dr. Kubelka and staff were wonderful! They were cheerful, patient with all my questions, professional, and very informative. I was completely relaxed and felt no pain or even discomfort during the root canal treatment or afterward. I could not have asked for a better experience. It was so relaxing and pleasant, it felt like a mini-vacation--which is A LOT for me to say about sitting in a dental chair!
